a battle of wit(lessness)
April 16, 2008
You’ve said a million and one things I can’t stand,
but one rings our truer and louder than the rest.
I love you. Like you used to, that’s what I should have said.
Instead I took a step too far and hit you with lessness.
Now I know better, and you seem to know worse.
What is it that keeps us from saying, looking, doing best?
If he says he loves me and I say the same, who can argue,
but the opponent at hand is not the good kind of ness.
And what of the sorries I gave to you over and over;
If only I hadn’t spoken at all we wouldn’t be ness less.
Now forgiveness, kindness, and the rest are buried by my wit(lessness).

I love this. Your poetry is so fluid and clean.

Looks like you still “got it” to me. This is powerful.
