the reasons why

it hurts so badly to say goodbye,
to wish you well in the weeks between,
to wonder with time what could have been.
i’d like to think i’m strong enough
to give my affection and convey my love,
but miles keep stretching within our divide
and there are faults i cannot bear to hide.
tremors shake the foundation we hardly have,
reminding me the journey is longer still
but we can find a way if we keep the will.
